Hello Sir, I am srivathsa D student from SJCIT chickballapur, karnataka.I was inspired by your lecture on "Spirituality and science " held 2 years back in our college .Sir my question is- In multi cylinder engines, the over all power produced is more than single cylinder engine. But whenever any one/more cyliders deviate from normal process ,a drag is produced which hinders the over all power of the engine!!!! I compare individual cylinders to individual indians/(departments/ministry),the overall engine assembly to India. The overall productivity of India depends on individuals. But the drag force ofcource hindering our productivity...HOW TO REDUCE?ELIMINATE THIS DRAG???.....Please reply

Greetings. Your question is good. But you have tried to reduce the entire humanity to a mechanical engineering device. Even in a superspecialised narrow discipline based product it is difficult to maintain a total coherence and synchronization. Nature, Prakriti, has its own definitions of efficiency. Diversity is its essence. Don’t, therefore, think of synchronizing and mechanizing each individual into an ‘imaginary collective whole’. Respect life as it is. You need to read my book ‘In Pursuit of Happiness” I have addressed the question of ‘truths’ in life. See my website book section, how to get it.

Sir i want to make carrier in space science. What will i do after 12th class.

I have answered to similar questions in detail before please browse through all the questios and answers. You can try ISRO's University Indian Space Research Organisation. See correct website for admissions. Also ISRO takes engineers, Scientists other Universities as well. Take up B-Tech, preferably do M.Tech also. But let me again say that there are many other non - space opportunities, as well. Take care of your spellings and in general strength in English.

Professor Rajan, As one of your early friends in ISRO Trivandrum, I and my wife Girija are very happy to learn of your remarkable contributions to the people of India. What is your vision of scientific innovations in India in fields that help improve the quality of life in India and the rest of the world? Natarajan and Girija Subramonian Maryland, USA

Thanks for your kind words. Hope all is excellent with both of you. Regarding Vision for India, the current economic growth and expansion in many sectors are much better than what is envisaged in India 2020 books / TIFAC reports. In late 1990’s most economists were pessimistic about what the reports / book indicated. Now they sing different tunes. Having said that I should add that the paths chosen are different. Today’s India’s growth is primarily through investments and demands of the middle class (lower included). Building up of internal knowledge intensive capacities is not being given any attention. Indian growth is fully dependent on borrowed technologies and knowledge. Even academia and most S & T systems are follower type. That suits the power elites of today. But only when we have right internal capacities, inclusive growth can result. I had written in detail as a follow up of India 2020 about how to Empower Indians by giving such internal capacities. Download the book Empowering Indians from Article Section. That gives the path. But my empirical experience shows that India will be a follower for about one – and – half decade more. Read the article “Sixty Years from Now.” Till then many who can see the paths have to keep emphasizing on knowledge and innovation. May be frustrating. But many younger people will take the lead as some are already doing. But they are not visible to media or power elites of today. But we need to keep on going with lots of hope. Read my poems Waiting for 21st Century (written 1989) and Twenty first Century 2006, downloadable in this website.
